Marriage certificate in English or required language?

Marriage certificate in English or required language according to the rules of the respective country in case of traveling abroad with husband and wife, performing Hajj, and going abroad for medical treatment.

However, an important point to note here is that the spouse’s name would not be added to the Passport in absence of a marriage certificate.

Secondly, the spouse, who intends to change her address needs to provide a valid address proof, which again is not possible without a marriage certificate.
This rule has added to a lot of confusion. To clarify this rule, it simply means that if you declare your Martial Status as “Married”, then Passport Authorities would not request you to provide a Marriage Certificate for the issuance of a Passport. This is because a Passport is essentially a travel document and is not proof of marriage.

Civil laws dictate that the legal age of consent and minimum age for marriage is 18 for women and 21 for men. Bangladesh does not have a specific law banning forced marriage. However, legally, the consent of both parties to a marriage is required.

In a hadith, Prophet Muhammad s.a.w. said, “Marriage is part of my sunnah, and whoever does not follow my sunnah has nothing to do with me. Get married, for I am heartened by your great numbers before the nations (of other Prophets).”
